A room set up to record artists is a room set up to score a film, and a composer who has scored a picture writes better records. Running both out of one house means the equipment, the engineers and the ears are shared rather than duplicated.
Score as part of the story, not a coat of paint
Music sits in development with Scripts and Picture rather than arriving at the end with a stopwatch. Getting the composer into the conversation while the story is still moving is the difference between a score that carries a scene and one that decorates it.
Sound design counts as music
For games in particular, the audio identity — what a menu sounds like, what winning sounds like — does as much work as the soundtrack. It is treated as composition, not post-production cleanup.
